These two essays were written fourteen years apart. The first, commissioned for the Encyclopaedia Metropolitana, was a defence of the miracles of Scripture as a key component of the evidence of the truth of Scripture, and particularly the Gospels, as Divine Revelation. The Cardinal argues against the scepticism of Hume and secular utilitarian’s for the truth of miracles.
